Chandigarh is one of India’s most unique cities. Designed from scratch in the 1950s by Swiss architect – Le Corbusier, it was the first planned city in the country after independence. Chandigarh has always had the adulation of tourists, be it for its spic and span environs or hotspots like Sukhna Lake and Rock Garden. To add to the delight of travellers, the Rose Festival is also organised every year in the month of February.
The Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh (MCC) and Chandigarh Tourism Department will be hosting this year’s Rose Festival from 28th February to 1st March at Zakir Hussain Rose Garden. It has been reported that the festival will be themed around “Plastic Mukt Festival.” Numerous cultural programmes will also be a part of the festival and so will be various competitions for people of all ages. You can participate in rangoli and flower competition, spot painting, photography, folk dance, antaakshari and many more.
Want more? How about cruising over Chandigarh in a helicopter and capturing a bird’s-eye view of the city from up above? Well, there is a chance of that too this year. A plethora of food stalls will also be there to tickle your taste buds with the delicious local food.
